永樂皇帝是明朝極為強盛的一朝，他舉兵奪姪兒皇位，北征蒙古、南平安南、並命鄭和下西洋，編纂永樂大典等，還遷都北京，讓中國首都定於北京至今，其武功堪稱宏大。是一個國土疆域繼元朝之後，開展另一番景象的皇帝。
永樂朝的錢幣即為永樂通寶，試想在一個處處需要用錢的朝代，而且永樂並非開國皇帝，永樂通寶仍能設計及鑄造得如此漂亮，可見永樂皇帝在位時國家的強盛。
