A very nicely decorated plate. Late Ming.

Crabs symbolize prosperity, business advancement and social status. The Chinese word for crab (蟹) and the Chinese word for harmony (协) are both pronounced xie. Depicting the crab is therefore expressing a wish for harmony. Also, the Chinese word for the shell (jia 甲) of the crab has the additional meaning of "first" and , therefore, expresses the wish to attain the highest score in the imperial examinations to become a government official. I can finally provide feedback. This bowl is made in Japan, not an antique from China. I recommend that the site's experts perform more careful inspections. This has been a learning experience for me

Shipment arrived sooner than expected, that's great. However, I would definitely suggest to improve packaging, specially for ancient prints.
