This figurine titled ‘We Congratulate’ (# 220) was modelled by master sculptor Arthur Möller. It is crafted in porcelain and beautifully hand painted with utmost attention to detail. The piece is a TMK 6 from 1979.

Hummel figurines were conceived by Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel — a prolific German artist and Franciscan nun. In the early 1930s, Sister Hummel’s drawings were printed as art postcards by Munich-based publisher Ars Sacra. These caught the attention of Franz Goebel — master porcelain maker and owner of the W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik — who rendered Hummel’s drawings as porcelain figurines beginning in 1935. The sweet children with rosy cheeks performing daily tasks were inspired by Hummel’s childhood and depict scenes of joy and innocence found in the pastoral Bavarian countryside.

Dimensions: 10cm high, 6.5cm wide, 4.5cm deep

Marks: It is pressed with the M I Hummel facsimile signature (sister Hummel’s personal stamp) on the backside of the base. On the underside, it is ink-marked ‘Goebel W Germany’ as well as hand initialed (HC) and dated (‘79) by the artist who painted the piece. It is also etched 220 — its factory control number.

Condition: The piece is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or blemishes. There is a bit of crazing and are a couple of very minor scuffs on the underside rim of the base.

Shipping: This item is boxed and wrapped carefully and will be dispatched with a tracking number.
