This exquisite ballpoint pen from the Showa era is a masterpiece of traditional Kaga maki-e lacquer art. The pen features a luxurious black lacquer base adorned with intricate nashiji and maki-e designs. Nashiji, or pear-skin ground, is a technique where tiny flakes of gold or silver are sprinkled onto the lacquer, creating a shimmering, speckled effect.

Kaga maki-e, originating from the Kaga region (modern-day Ishikawa Prefecture), is known for its highly detailed and sophisticated designs. This technique often incorporates multiple layers of lacquer and gold or silver powder to create depth and a sense of three-dimensionality. The intricate patterns and meticulous craftsmanship of Kaga maki-e make it a prized art form, symbolizing elegance and luxury.

Please note that the pen does not currently produce ink, and the parts is prone to detachment. Buyers should be prepared to perform maintenance themselves. The pen comes with its original wooden box. Please refer to the photos for the detailed conditions.
