- Kolyma
- Vorkuta
- The Road to death
With the original dustjacket.
Book and dustjacket in EXCELLENT, FRESH CONDITION.
"The 'Gulag' was a widespread network of labor camps and penal colonies managed by the Soviet security organizations. While forced labor and internal exile had a long history in Russia, the Gulag evolved into a devastating tool of political suppression and massive industrial production.
Gulag is a comprehensive history, with haunting, never-before-seen photographs, essays and arresting first-person accounts of the horrors of life and death in the
camps.
Each chapter gives a detailed historical and pictorial account of a camp or aspect of the Gulag, including: Solovki, the monastery that was the birthplace of the Gulag system; Vaygach, the doomed
"humane" camp; Kolyma and the deadly Siberian gold rush, Vorkuta, the coal mining center above the Arctic Circle and the Road of Death, a doomed northern railway project where thousands of prisoners met their deaths."

"Tomasz Kizny is a Polish photographer and journalist who spent more than fifteen years conducting the research and investigation that led to the publication of Gulag. In 1986 he began collecting eyewitness accounts from former Polish prisoners who had returned to their country after Stalin's death. The collapse of the Soviet system made it possible for him to travel across the former USSR to locate witnesses and see for himself what remained of the dreaded Gulag. He has added his own photographs of the abandoned camps and the survivors to the archival photographs of life in the camps.
Tomasz Kizny was a founding member of Dementi, a clandestine association of independent photographers that was formed after martial law was declared in Poland in 1981."

View translationLivre impeccable et protection au top. Merci beaucoup.
View translationPrachtig boek! Goed verpakt ontvangen. Echter: het te veel gebruikte inpaktape is heel erg agressief: bij het uitpakken kan het zelfs de inhoud van het pakket beschadigen. Hg. KvZ
View translationthank you for your positive feedback! the parcel tape protects the book from moisture and humidity and prevents the book from bumping (because it slides back and forth). this is very important. of course, the parcel tape never comes into direct contact with the book, the cover or the publisher's original plastic film. best wishes! ecki heuser, owner of "5Uhr30.com"
