A manuscript leaf from a Qur'an originating in India dating C1750, containing a pair of marginal Juz and a Chapter heading in naskh script (red ink).
The leaf contains the final verses of the Meccan Chapter 74, Al-Muddaththir (The One Covered Up), which is an account of the Prophet's first encounter with the Angel Gabriel in a cave on the outskirts of Mecca, after which he rushed home to cover himself up; and the header and first 8 verses of Chapter 75, Al-Qiyamah (The Rising for Judgement) which refutes the pagans for denying the resurrection and judgement.
The scripture is plain naskh, black ink. Simple gold round aya mark the verses. A pair of gold medallion 'Juz' with a large north finial and a short south finial mark the 55th verse of Chapter 74 and the heading of Chapter 75.
A single wormhole is shown & marked in Fig 1g, but otherwise the manuscript is clean and in good condition.
