白井直賢 Shirai Naokata Japanese painter of the late Edo period. Born in Kyoto. Studied under Maruyama Okyo. Specialized in mouse paintings. with signature 'Naokata' 直賢 and seal 'Shiro Naokata in' 白直賢印 'Shisai' 子斎 ちまき Chimaki Glutinous rice wrapped in plant leaves (e.g. bamboo grass leaves) and steamed. In Japan, it is used as an offering for Boys' Festival.
