The Gran Selezione Chianti DOCG Vigna del Sorbo wine boasts the Chainti Classico DOCG Gran Selezione denomination. The most prestigious specification for Chianti wines, the one belonging only to the heart of this area of ​​rare beauty that characterizes central and northern Italy. The grape variety used for its vinification is 100% pure Sangiovese. The vineyard used by the Fontodi company is that of Vigna del Sorbo with exposure towards the South-West with vines over 40 years old. The planting density is 6000 vines per hectare of vineyard land. The training method is the classic one in the area for Sangiovese, the Guyot one. The winemaking process after the harvest involves spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration in stainless steel tanks with mechanical punchers and thermal control for over 3 weeks. Then the maturation process in Troncais and Allier barriques for 24 months.
