Fragmented Luba Ancestor Figure. DR Congo. This heavily fragmented Luba figure gives a surprisingly mysterious feel. Depicting a female ancestor, the facial traits are the only that have been preserved integrally. Other parts of the object are merely partial, although clearly represented. Think of the breasts, navel and beautiful coiffe, in addition to a nicely detailed ornamentation around the waist. The object is sold with a custom made wooden stand.
