Stored in private cellar up today. Outstanding storage conditions and very high filling level. Fully mature and therefore drinking well now or cellar for the next 20-25 years.
Contino 1976 Gran Reserva:
- This is maybe the rarest wine ever produced by Contino winery. 1976 was the third vintage jointly produced between Contino and C.V.N.E. but the very first time that part of the wine was not placed on the market and finally top-rated and classified "Gran Reserva" by the Regulatory Board of Rioja instead the regular "Reserva" classification.
Viña Real 1976 Gran Reserva:
- 18,5/20 Jancis Robinson: "An irregular vintage, but generally very good in Rioja Alta. A short vegetative cycle of 180 days. Fermented in cement and bottled in March 1982. Bright ruby colour - if it were modern, it could be a rosé. Flowery, expressive. Sweet on the nose and in the mouth in a southern-Rhône style, maraschino cherries and blond tobacco, a little spirity on the finish. Less power but more complex than the 1981. Superb".
