Large high quality Roman bronze Patera with a circular bowl with integral handle, standing on a ringed foot. A rare find as the handle and bow are more often found separately. There are incised decorations in form of a double border on the flared rim, inside the bowl near the rim and around the bottom. There are concentric rings visible on the bottom inside the bowl. There is a smal piece missing in the flared rim, this was probably done on purpose in antiquity for efficient pouring. In ancient times, a patera would have been used to serve food and drink at symposia/dinner parties or as an offering dish to pour libations of wine and other liquids at religious ceremonies. Appealing patina which is a pallet of olive brown to black with areas of cuprite and malachite. One very small hole in the bottom, visible signs of wear consistent with age and use, see images.
