Very interesting large 18th century copper engraving (engraved by Picart) showing a religious ceremony of an indigenous tribe in Canada. Published in "Ceremonies et coutumes religieuses de tous les peuples du monde" Jean Frederic Bernard Amsterdam 1723.
It is clear that the engraving is made based on descriptions by others, there are many curious details that aren´t correct (palm trees in Canada, indiginous people with clear Caucasian looks, many people smoking (even though that was something that was mainly something in Central and South America….).
Excellent. Never folded. Thick paper. Clear print.
