A rare Chinese sepia and famille rose armorial porcelain bowl with saucer. China, Qing dynasty, Qianlong (1736-1795, 乾隆) period, mid 18th century. Very rare example of the Chinese export porcelain!
Bowl masterfully potted of very thin, snow-white, translucent porcelain, with round walls, supported on short foot. Finely painted sepia and gilt CAW monogram in rococo cartouche, within sprays of blue, yellow and pink flowers with green leaves on the exterior, followed by three sepia and gilded rococo motives. Gilt band under the top-rim. Decoration repeated on the plate.

Saucer dish: diameter – 13,1 cm; height – 2,4 cm. Weight – 79 g;
Bowl: diameter – 8,7 cm; height – 4,5 cm. Weight – 61 g.
Conditions report: saucer dish in excellent condition with minimal firing faults and wear to the gilding in places. Cup with two small chips to the top-rim, one with associated hardly visible hairline; other (double) hairline. Glaze hairlines at the base, visible under strong light only, not visible on inside. Minor wear to the gilding. Strong white-light tested. Check pictures for details.
