Pierre Kjellberg writes the following about Froment-Meurice in his 'Bronzes of the 19th century' (page 338): "He developed into a very skillful animal sculptor, very perceptive and discerning of the positions and attitudes of certain animals." This particular sculpture with a jumping bull in action is a good example of the above.
