High quality original marionette puppets from Burma. 

The heads, hands, and feet of the puppets are made of wood and are hand painted. The unique and colorful clothing are hand-crafted with a great eye for detail, decorated with filaments and beads. The puppets are about 35cm in height.

These highly detailed puppets are an integral part of Burmese tradition.

The tradition, which was founded in the late 18th century by a royal patron, is known as Yoke thé. Yoke thé is the Burmese name for marionette puppetry. Although the term can be used for marionettery in general, its usage usually refers to the local form of string puppetry. Like most of Burmese refined art, yoke thé performances originated from royal patronage and were gradually adapted for the wider populace. Yoke thé are almost always performed in operas. 

This item is antique and sold as is. It has signs of wear and tear but yet are in great shape. 

The lot will be packaged carefully and shipped through an international parcel service.
