Heavy solid Kaya wooden Go-game table 碁盤 (goban) complete with go-stones 碁石 (go-ishi), in a very good condition. The sides and bottom lacquered in a matching brownish orange hue still showing soft lines of the wood grain. Raised by faceted baluster feet.
The top of one of the removable feet with dated inscription. 'October Heisei 6' 平成六年十月, Anno 1994. -Foot marked with a dot-
The boxes of the stones are made of indigenous mulberry wood 桑 (kuwa) in a warm brown hue. The white go-stones are made from the bivalve shell hamaguri 蛤 cockles, and the black ones are from Nachiguroishi, it is a fine type of slate from Kumano in the province of Mie.
The table is in a very good original condition with minor traces of use. Only a few of the go-stones have traces of usage, which is quite common. Please look at the photos for a condition reference.
