Zeldzame Oliver typemachine n.o. 3, geproduceerd in de Verenigde Staten, in de periode: 1900-1907.  De Oliver typemachine was de eerste effectieve "zichtbare print" schrijfmachine, wat betekent dat de tekst zichtbaar was voor de typiste zoals het werd getyped.
Een iconische typemachine, en door de u-vormige aanslagen, zeer herkenbaar. Het gebruikte lettertype was vooruitstrevend.

De Oliver 3 werd geproduceerd tussen 1900 en maart 1907, terwijl tegelijkertijd een identieke Oliver 4 werd geproduceerd met buitenlandse toetsenborden voor de exportmarkt. De olijfgroene kleur is typerend voor de typemachine Oliver, hoewel de vroegste modellen (en enkele latere exportmodellen) werden geproduceerd met een vernikkeld frame.
De Oliver verscheen voor het eerst 1896/7. Uitgevonden door de Canadese dominee Thomas Oliver, zou de machine een van de meest duurzame alternatieven van de gewone typemachine met voorslag worden. Hoewel de productie in de VS in 1928 eindigde, zou de Britse Oliver Typewriter Mfg Co de productie van de downstroke voortzetten tot na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Vanwege de relatief grotere slagkracht werd de Oliver door de meeste bedrijven gebruikt als stencilmaker of "manifolder". Rond 1920 of zo werden andere machines, vooral die van Underwood, als beter beschouwd voor "zakelijke correspondentie". Dus voor commerciële verkoop was het het oorspronkelijke ontwerp dat het bedrijf tot 1928 in stand hield. Datzelfde ontwerp beperkte echter het aantal verkochte machines, waardoor de Oliver werd gemarginaliseerd tot een "speciale"
typemachine. In 1903 verwierf het bedrijf A. Greger uit Wenen de rechten om de Oliver 3 in Oostenrijk te produceren, onder de merknaam Courier. Eerder hadden ze koeriersfietsen en naaimachines gemaakt.
De Courier is grotendeels in Oostenrijk geproduceerd en geassembleerd. En toen het bedrijf Oliver overstapte naar latere modellen, ging Courier door met de productie van het model op basis van de Oliver 3, maar met enkele aanpassingen en verbeteringen. De productie stopte in 1919, maar blijkbaar ging de verkoop door tot 1927.

Conditie: in goede staat, gebruikt met geringe gebruikssporen. 
Typmachine moet technisch nagekeken worden.
