A handwritten letter on parchment with seal written by the secretary in Name of Isabella from Spain 1599
This document here is part of the introduction of the new queen of the lower Netherlands. The new queen would travel to Antwerp to take her oath. This document is part of the preparation process for the introduction of the new queen in Antwerp where she will take her oath.

In 1598 Philips II king of Spain gave his daughter Isabella the reign of the Lower Netherlands. The gift was Isabella’s dowry for her wedding with Albrecht of Austria. The wedding took place on April 18, 1599 and made her Archduchess of Austria and ruler of 17 provinces. The current Netherlands where in this time at war with the lower Netherlands (Belgium and Northern part of France) but Isabella managed to sign a peace treaty and wealth and prosperity returned.
