Grote bronzen ketel gegoten met koloniale figuren te paard Borneo, Maleisië/Brunei
Eind 19de tot midden 20de eeuw

Ogenschijnlijk is dit een bronzen ketel waarin water wordt bewaard maar gezien de openingen en een dichte tuit, ligt het meer voor de hand dat de ketel gebruikt werd om de geur van welriekende kruiden en oliën in te verspreiden maar vooral tentoongesteld werd als een zichtbaar vertoon van rijkdom en macht;   door, een plaatselijk hoofdman van één van de stammen van Sarawak en Brunei op het eiland Borneo. Het is gegoten volgens het verloren-wasproces . De uitlopende voet is elegant gegoten met golvende waterplanten. Op een brede rand  een reeks (7) massief gegoten jachthonden of wolven . Één hond ontbreekt. 
Daarboven bevindt zich een  opengewerkte rand van 6 cm  met florale motieven, gevolgd door een gekartelde, puntige rand. Dit leidt naar een andere rand waarop nog meer honden (4) en twee koloniale Europeanen met tropenhelmen  op, op paarden zitten. Een 10cm hoge nek moet leiden naar een deksel, die bij deze ketel helaas ontbreekt. De steunen voor het hoge handvat bestaan ​​aan de ene kant uit een drakenkop en aan de andere kant uit een grote, zittend mensfiguur. Het handvat zelf is gegoten met kartels aan de bovenkant en met een krokodil in het midden De tuit is  uitgebreid versierd met florale motieven en een hond aan de bovenkant die het mensfiguur aankijkt.  De ketel heeft over het geheel een prachtige zachtgroene patina. Een soortgelijke ketel is geïllustreerd in het boek: Chin, l., Cultural heritage of sarawak, (1980, p. 46) en wordt beschreven als ‘een zeldzame koperen ketel versierd met gegoten dieren’. De ketel uit dit boek staat in het Sarawak Museum.  die ketel dateert uit de achttiende eeuw. Er zijn er maar weinig bekend in openbare collecties; zelden komen ze op de markt. Dit latere voorbeeld ( een afgietsel van het origineel) is vooral interessant vanwege de afbeelding van koloniale Europese figuren.
Jammer dat het deksel en één van de jachthonden ontbreken.
