Oorspronkelijk geboren in de jaren 60 uit de wens van de Amerikaanse industrieel ontwerper Brooks Stevens om een auto te produceren in de stijl van de Mercedes-sportwagens uit de jaren 20, werd het merk Excalibur opgericht in zijn geboortestad Milwaukee, Wisconsin en produceerde auto's tot 1990, het jaar waarin dit exemplaar werd geproduceerd. 

Zelfs nu nog hebben de modellen een unieke en blijvende aantrekkingskracht die autoliefhebbers aanspreekt. Het opvallende ontwerp is voorzien van een lange motorkap, prominente grille en vloeiende lijnen en biedt als pakket een mix van tijdloze elegantie en modern gemak. Over het geheel genomen valt het op als een symbool van grandeur en exclusiviteit.

De Series III Roadster, die veel vaker wordt gezien als vier zits cabriolet is beperkt gebleven tot een productierun van slechts 15 auto's in 1978 (met in totaal 76 stuks over 5 jaar voor de Series III) tegenover 1065 Pheaton 4 zits cabriolets, Waardoor dit een zeer zeldzame verschijning is. Met een 7,4 liter big block V8, een weelderig interieur en die unieke lijnen zal hij zeker de aandacht trekken, waar hij ook komt.

De wagen start direct, schakelt soepel en krachtig door alle versnellingen heen, loopt mooi stationair en remt naar behoren. De lak en het interieur verkeren nog in nette staat op een kleine imperfectie hier en daar die met de leeftijd verwacht mogen worden.

Verder is de auto net voorzien van een set nieuwe brede whitewall banden ($1600) en een technische beurt.

De Excalibur Roadster wordt door zijn zeer beperkte productierun nagenoeg nooit aangeboden. 

Wacht dus niet te lang en laat deze kans niet liggen om de eigenaar te worden van deze unieke Excalibur.
