Di gran pregio questa insegna in legno del periodo 1930 circa rappresenta il Billingsgate Market. Billingsgate era originariamente un mercato generale per mais, carbone, ferro, vino, sale, ceramica, pesce e beni vari e non sembra essere stato associato esclusivamente al commercio del pesce fino al XVI secolo. Nel 1699 fu approvata una legge del Parlamento che lo rendeva "un mercato libero e aperto per tutti i tipi di pesce". Nel 1850 il primo edificio del mercato di Billingsgate fu costruito in Lower Thames Street ma si rivelò inadeguato e fu demolito nel 1873 per far posto all'edificio che si trova ancora oggi in Lower Thames Street.
