The thimbles in this small collection are of good quality and made in and around Europe by famous thimble factories, most of which ceased trading and closed their doors in the last century. Their silver thimbles still attract collectors from around the world. Antique thimbles are included: one Dutch thimble is marked 1814-1905 and dates from around 1890. An English example is fully hall-marked for London 1893 and another is marked Birmingham 1911 with a third thimble bearing the mark "sterling" (.925 silver). Lovely thimbles from Portugal were made for tourists from the 1970's to end 1990's, seen here with a cat, a dog and a bird. There are two thimbles from Israel, one of which is beautifully decorated with a filigree design. A few thimbles were made by famous thimble makers like Gabler (one with a coloured lacquer band - not enamel,) Soergel & Stollmeyer in Germany and Settmacher in Austria. A beautiful French thimble has a pretty, scalloped band in relief.

All thimbles are in excellent condition, no holes or repairs and will be a quality addition to a thimble collection.
