Prussia 1851
 House Order of Hohenzollern

King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. 1795-1861
 FROM ROCK TO SEA
 This is the motto of this high badge of honour.
With the first detachment of the order, the so-called
Grand Commander, became teachers, clergymen, people from art
and science, commanders (castle administrators) and knights honored.
The eagle of the Grand Commander, the second division of the
 Award, was reserved for commanders and knights.

 Friedrich Wilhelm IV, King of Prussia (1840-1861) initially steered a liberal course.  The art-loving founder of the order lifted the censorship, settled the dispute with the Catholic Church and had a constitution drawn up in the revolutionary year of 1848.  However, after crushing the revolutionary movements in Europe, the Prussian king took a conservative direction.

 The religious sign is a white enameled cross with a gold-colored crown and outwardly curved and rounded arms.  On the arms of the cross there is a black enamelled, gold-colored inlay.  The cross arms are bordered in gold.  A green and gold-colored enameled wreath winds in the corners of the arms of the cross.  Gold-colored swords cross through the center.

 The medallion shows a black-enamelled, gold-colored eagle with the Hohenzollern coat of arms on the breast on a white-enamelled background.  The motto FROM THE ROCK TO THE SEA is written in gold-colored letters on the blue-enamelled background of the medallion ring, with two gold-colored, tied twigs underneath.
