Dit beeld van Mazu, de Chinese godin van de zee, is vereerd als beschermster van zeelieden en vissers. Ze wordt vaak afgebeeld als een vriendelijke vrouwelijke figuur, gekleed in traditionele kleding en met een hoofdband. Mazu wordt geëerd voor haar vermogen om stormen te bedaren en schepen veilig naar de kust te begeleiden. Veel mensen aanbidden haar en bidden voor bescherming en voorspoed tijdens hun reizen op zee. Haar verering heeft een lange geschiedenis in de Chinese cultuur en blijft tot op de dag van vandaag sterk

De conditie van het beeld is goed Hij is handgemaakt en beschilderd met mooie bladgoud verf. Matzu is zacht roze geschilderd met wat rood en blauwe en groene accenten. 
Er heeft vroeger wat stoffen versieringen in haar hoofdband en handen gezeten die ontbreken. 
Wel opvallend bij dit beeldje is dat Mazu 2 zwanen onder haar voeten heeft. Mazu zit in een vorstelijk stoel die 2 gouden draken hoofden heeft. 
Het beeld weegt 911 gram.
