Hexagonale koloniale dekseldoos uit het begin van de 20e eeuw gemaakt in Sri Lanka. het kistje is gedecoreerd met panelen ingelegd met stekelvarken stekels.

Dit model vertegenwoordigt een good een voorbeeld van Anglo-Singalese stekelvarken stekeldozen geassocieerd met de zuid Sri Lankaanse havenstad Galle.
De doos heeft het kenmerkend met stippen van been ingelegde oppervlak afgewisseld met panelen gemaakt van stekelvarken-stekels.
De kist, met gewelfde deksel, is gemaakt van massieve zwarte ebbenhouten latten op een skelet van sandelhout. De doos is versierd met panelen van stekelvarken, begrensd door ingelegde ebbenhouten stroken; de ebbenhouten stroken bevinden zich in de lengte aan alle zijden en op het scharnierende, met been ingelegde deksel. Tussen de ebbenhouten omkadering bevinden zich panelen met stekelvarken-stekels. De binnenzijde van het deksel toont een eveneens ingelegd ebbenhouten paneel omgeven door 6 vakken bekleed met diepblauwe fluwelen stof. Het hexagonale paneel toont een olifant met daaronder de naam van de zuidelijke Sri Lankaanse havenstad 'GALLE'.
