Rare et authentique monnaie primitive de la tribu Ngandu, vivant dans la zone du haut-Lopori. Ce type de "monnaie"  était utilisé, au sein des communautées indigènes de la cuvette du fleuve Congo, déjà  longtemps avant l'époque coloniale, pour acheter des denrées et du bétail, pour payer la dote ou pour régler des conflits et transactions claniques. Le cuivre était extrait dans les mines artisanales (Kwilu, Teke, Katanga) ou provenait des barres et gros fils que les marchands d'esclaves portugais et arabes utilisaient comme monnaie d'échange. Les forgerons locaux refondaient ces "monnaies importées"
 
Pièce unique de collection ethnographique  qui est en même temps un précieux petit objet de décoration, Elle fait partie d'une exceptionnelle collection complète de toutes les monnaies primitives spécifiques du Congo.

Les socles en pierre et en  bois tropicaux (duramen d'accacia et wengué) sur lesquels la pièce est présentées, ne font pas partie de la vente, mais leur acquisition peut être négociée, à un prix modeste, ultérieurement.

Récolté lors de l'une de mes missions de terrain à Kisangani en 1996.
 
Collection familiale privée belge (3générations, rassemblée durant 65 ans).
