The Belgian post-impressionist René Clarot was born in Antwerp and was educated at the Academy of Brussels under the supervision of Richter en Montald. He painted numerous marines and harbour view as well as townscapes. He was very popular in France, where he exhibted quite regularly and he also lived in Paris for a while.

This painting with very beautiful sunset at sea is a lovely example of his skill. It is signed at the lower right with: R. Clarot 1921. It is in reasonable condition.  It has some traces of wear as does the frame. The dimensions are 45 x 37 cm. 

The painting will be packaged with care and sent by courier but may, if required, also be collected from our store in Barendrecht, just south of Rotterdam.
