Basándose en la ornamentación del cuerpo por medio de tatuajes, la comunidad indígena Kuna / Guna, nativos de territorios hóstiles al norte de Colombia y Panamá, representan manualmente en tela el pensamiento mítico de la región y lo convierten en parte inseparable de su identidad.
Y es que mediante la técnica denominada "Aplique invertido", superponen capas de tela cosidas entre sí, efectúan recortes y se crean contrastes en formas y colores; interpretan infinitas figuras en relieve, muy significativas sobre la flora, la fauna, sus tradiciones, el pensamiento cosmogónico...
Este arte textil milenario, forma parte del atuendo que identifica el universo de las mujeres y preserva la memoria colectiva de esta cultura Amerindia.
Arte textil original, comprado en uno de mis viajes a América Latina. Se ve muy bien en un centro de mesa, enmarcado como arte a la pared, para fundas de cojines,etc.
