John Laurance

Fraai art deco bord (vredesschotel) uit 1919, gemaakt door de fa. Ivora uit Gouda (1914-1965) voor fa. C. Fortmann, in Den Haag ('magazijn voor luxe huishoudelijke goederen' in de Spuistraat). 
Al was Nederland geen participant in de Eerste Wereldoorlog (WO I, 1914 - 1918), de effecten van de oorlog waren groot voor ons land. Toen de vrede van Versailles een feit was, zijn er vele (verschillende) vredesborden gemaakt.

Afbeelding van wereldbol met aan de rand de tekst: 'Et in terra pax hominibus voluntatis bonae' ("op aarde vrede voor de mensen van goede wil"). 
Op achterkant staat: Vredesbord 1919, C. Fortmann, 's Gravenhage. Met het nummer 84 en in het aardewerk geperst "5AM".

Diameter 27cm.

Conditie: goede staat; slechts na honderd jaar wat craquelé in het glazuur.
