Sehr schöne und seltene „Mbira“ aus Zaire.

Das Mbira, auch unter dem Oberbegriff Sanza oder Lamellophon bzw. Daumenklavier bekannt, ist ein Musikinstrument, das überall in Afrika südlich der Sahara gespielt wird.

Der Musiker, meist ein Mann, dürfte damit Balladen, insbesondere Lieder, die von persönlich Erlebtem berichteten, untermalt haben.

Dieses spezifische Instrument wurde beim Volk der Azande gesammelt, die in dem Gebiet leben, das sich über den heutigen Nordosten Zaires
und den Süden des Sudan erstreckt.
Das Instrument stellt eine weibliche, möglicherweise tanzende Figur mit emporgereckten Armen, gestreckten
Fingern dar.
