Opel GT AL 1973.

This Opel GT AL was introduced as a counterpart to the Chevrolet Corvette. Because of this and also because of the difference in size, it was nicknamed "The poor man's Corvette". The size of the body is significantly smaller, moreover, the version of this Opel has half the cylinders compared to its big cousin.

The bodywork of the GT was not made in Germany but by the French  Chausson company. Chausson then sent the bare bodies to the French Brissonneau & Lotz (B&L) company. B&L was responsible for the paintwork and the installation of wiring, interior, windows and chrome parts. The bodies then went to Germany by train to be completed with the mechanics at the factory in Bochum. The car was designed by Clare Mac Kichan and Erhard Schnell. The Opel GT came with an 1100 or 1900 engine and remained in production until 1973. Production stopped in 1973 because the supply companies Chausson and Brissonneau & Lotz were incorporated by Renault.

This AL is from the last production year 1973 and one of the most luxurious versions. A lot of chrome was used.

The Opel has been restored down to the smallest detail by an enthusiast. The suspension has been blasted and galvanised. New ATS rims have been fitted which, combined with the lime blue metallic paint, lend the Opel a particularly striking appearance. 

Th car has been fitted with beautiful, new leather sports seats. The original black seats of the car - with blasted and coated frames - will be included.

The complete restoration has been recorded in hundreds of photos and many invoices have been preserved. Naturally, this documentation is comes with the car.
