Een prachtig oud Katanga kruis dat eeuwen lang als betaalmiddel gebruikt werd in Belgisch Congo. Als betaalmiddel werden ze al in de 14de eeuw gebruikt. Ze bestaan in meerdere maten en modellen. De kleinste is een paar mm groot en weegt enkele gram, de grootste kunnen meer dan 10 kg wegen. 
Een Katanga kruis, werd als betaalmiddel gebruikt in Congo tot de jaren 60 van de 20e eeuw

Dit betaalmiddel is van massief rood koper en is 27.2 bij 27 cm en weegt 914 gram. Deze currency heeft nog zijn originele tribale kleur/patina . Dit betaalmiddel is in goede toestand en heeft nog zijn prachtige originele patina wat op zich ook al uitzonderlijk is.
