1975 DAF 66 Marathon.

For several decades, the Variomatic was actively represented in motorsport: in Formula III racing cars in the 1960s and in international rallies and rally cross in the 1970s. In particular, the accomplishments in the London-Sydney Marathon and the Marathon de la Route placed DAF in the spotlight. In an attempt to give the reputation of DAF passenger cars a sportive boost, an option package was developed for 'the sporty DAF driver'. Both in terms of the engine, mechanics and the exterior, the Daf 55 was modified to go through life as a 'Daf 55 Marathon', named after the rallies in which DAF made a name for itself.

Of the total of only 3,517 produced units of the 1300 Marathon coupés, this vehicle from December 1975 is one of the later copies.

The colour combination was very tastefully done, the bodywork is painted in ’Marina Blue’. A very nice contrast with the black interior. During sporty rides, black Cobra rally seats with red seat belts keep you in the right position.

The paintwork and the bodywork are in a very good condition. The fittings of the sills, fenders, doors, bonnet and boot lid are in a neat condition.

It has not only been adjusted optically but also technically, this characteristic 'Coupé' received an update... and what a great update! First of all, the technique has been complete overhauled. The owner exchanged the 1,289 cc engine with 75 hp for a sportier 1.4 litre engine with approximately 90 hp.

This DAF comes originally from the South of France, so it is absolutely rust-free. And the car has a Dutch registration since 2012.
