Pantometer or Surveyor's Cross, made by German company Arhend dating from the end of the 19th century. The brass drum is signed “Ahrend No.7312, the top has a silvered scale numbered 0-360 with a compass. The drum has sighting slots. The pantometer is mounted on a turned wood base and can be adjusted with its ball-joint connection.

With a pantometer it is possible to both set out square angles with it at any direction as well as to measure angles relative to magnetic north. The knob on the bottom rotates the top half of the instrument. To allow for accurate reading a vernier reading is available on the outside of the brass drum.

Dimensions; height is 26,5cm and diameter brass drum is 8cm
