De Financial Times schreef in 2016 over deze ketel: 
"Design horror: the Hot Bertaa kettle by Philippe Starck This 1989 postmodern sculpture for the kitchen counter was described by its manufacturer as ‘our most beautiful fiasco’" 

Hot Bertaa is een ontwerp van Philippe Starck. Het is onder andere opgenomen in de collectie van het MoMa in New York. 

In dit geval is het niet vorm volgt functie, maar vorm gaat boven functie. Je kunt er water in koken, maar je kunt je er lelijk aan branden.
Hij is geproduceerd tussen 1989 en 1997. Er zijn ongeveer 25.000 exemplaren van gemaakt. Bij de ketel is een gebruiksaanwijzing van de bijbehorende theepot gevoegd. Daarop kun je zien hoe je het water overgiet van ketel naar theepot.
De tuit/handvat, die de ketel lijkt te doorboren, is gemaakt van zeegroene kunststof en vertoond lichte verkleuringen. 

De ketel is van gegoten aluminium en vertoont enkele oneffenheden. Zie de foto's om een goede indruk van de staat te krijgen.
