Set of traditional hand-carved wooden Calendars from LOMBOK based on the Pawukon cycle. The Pawukon ritual calendar was used to determine the favourable days for fertility, and also, to identify ceremonial events and horoscopes. It originates from Lombok, but this drum was used in Bali, Indonesia, in the middle of the 19th century. The old hardwood presents a marvellous patina reflecting the antiquity of this item. This Pawukon calendar does not contain letters, but geometric figures like dots, triangles, lines and circles, symbolising different favourable days.

The Pawukon calendar is one of the 2 calendar systems used by the people of Lombok. It contains 210 days instead of the usual 365 days, and consists of ten weekly cycles which take place simultaneously. Each weekly cycle consists of different number of days and when the first or last days of different cycles coincide, this is considered as a special day.

Both items are presented on a seperate iron custom made stand.
