Il bollitore 9091 ha un fischietto melodico in ottone dalla forma inedita, costituito da due piccole canne in cui sono inseriti dei coristi che riproducono le note mi e si. Richard Sapper l'ha creato ispirandosi a un ricordo d'infanzia, il poetico suono delle sirene dei battelli sul fiume Reno: perché la melodia che accompagna l'uscita del vapore dev'essere gradevole, non ansiogena come il fischio tipico dei bollitori. 
Il bollitore 9091 è un oggetto polisensoriale, che non interromperà una pausa di piacere con un fischio, ma con un'avvolgente melodia.
L'oggetto si presunta in buono stato con leggeri segni del tempo.
