Selling here is the first collected works of Thackeray published in 1869. 
Uniformly bound in an attractive green leather. The set is complete with all twenty-two volumes, 365 plates and numerous other illustrations throughout. Two further volumes were issued 17 years later and are not included. This set is complete with all twenty-two volumes as issued.

Condition: 

The books are bound in full uniform green leather, gilt lettered to spine. Volume one has the board loose, with a few others starting to crack, but the main majority are holding firm and tight. There is some scuffing and chipping spines, with edge loss, but the set just really needs a good polish.  Internally, a good clean set for the age, with usual age related marks. Last four leaves and rear board have some staining to volume one. Some off-setting from plates to text and occasional spotting, but the overall condition is very good. Bookplates to pastedown.
