Four nineteenth century (1850-1880) floor tiles from a church in Nottingham, UK. By using two colours of clay, a beautiful pattern was created.  After glazing and baking, very durable floor tiles were created. Depicted is a lion in a shield surrounded by a double circle containing stylised floral motifs. There is also a text that relates to law: I read Le Droit. I cannot decipher the first word. Nice condition with some edge damage.
