From the Art Deco period, this exceptional pair of delightful marble bookends made of marble and babbitt metal in good condition. No cracks. With some tiny use-related scratches, barely visible. Both subjects are made of patinated babbitt metal representing a barn swallow (formerly called chimney swallow) set on a promontory with their head raised. These birds have the strong symbolism of fidelity because they return from migration to nest systematically at their nest but also as a lucky charm if they come to visit your interior.
