Box for storing a rope ladder to allow the pilot to come on board. The box is made of mahogany and has copper screws.

The front can be lowered to allow the rope ladder to go out on deck. Around the top, under the lid, there is an edge to protect the ladder from rain and waves. In the bottom there are vent holes for ventilation.

The name of the ship is not known but we suspect it was one of the ferries to Texel.
