Original cast iron coat of arms for purveyors to the Royal household.

Characteristics:
-The coat of arms has most likely hung on the wall of the company Eekhof in Veendam (Groningen), see photo of the back. Was a drugstore back then. 
-The coat of arms is in a vintage condition, with a beautiful patina by age.
There are visible signs of wear, which are normal for its age. There is a tassel missing at the bottom left, and some unevenness in the cast iron and the paint here and there. However, this just gives charm to this coat of arms. The photos are part of the description.
- Dimensions are 86 cm high x 70 cm wide
To clarify the size of this coat of arms, in one photo, the coat of arms is placed next to a matchbox. (last photo!)
-The coat of arms weighs approx. 35 KG
-Can be attached at 3 points, see back. 

Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, who was King of Holland from 1806 to 1810, first granted the title ‘Merchant of the King’. Later, King Willem I (1813-1840) adopted this idea and coined the name Purveyor to the Royal Household. Companies could demonstrate that they were appreciated by the royals.
A purveyor to the royal household is a company or a person who supplies goods or services to a royal or imperial court. In the Netherlands and Belgium, some of these suppliers were recognized by the court itself, and are holders of a certificate or proof. Nowadays, this is a honorary title in the Netherlands. The purveyor to the royal household does not actually supply goods or services to the court anymore.

The phrase of the House of Orange-Nassau ‘Je Maintiendrai’ (I will maintain) is on it.

Due to the size and weight, this lot can only be picked up.
