Reflex film camera ASAHI PENTAX S1a from 1963.

Historic Asahi Pentax camera with fully manual operation

Nominally, the mechanical shutter provides shutter speeds from 1 s to 1/500 s but, in fact, after the 1/500 s mark there is another step that is not marked but provides the speed of 1/1000 s.
This peculiarity is explained by the fact that, at the time, Asahi wanted to put on the market a camera cheaper than the flagship of the period, the S3, but considered it more convenient to use the same shutter, simply by removing the 1/1000 s inscription from the selector wheel.

The item at auction is undoubtedly worn but is in good condition and fully functional.
