A beautiful old traditional Ethiopian Agelgel food container of the Amhara ethnic group. Used by the local shepherds as a kind of "bread tin", filled with Injera, the typical Ethiopian sour, sponge-like flatbread.
An authentic object with beautiful patina and wear from use (note the old stiched restoration on the bottom). A unique piece with a lot of character, these baskets were always handmade and finely decorated, in this case with coloured raphia woven in the interior. 
It can be closed with a strap on the top and hung from the shoulder with another strap on the side.

13 cm high
ca. 25 cm diameter (+ 26 cm strap)

overall good condition with wear consistent with age.
