This beautiful 2 oz silver coin is the second edition from the "Masks" series, and it is dedicated to the plague symbol of the "Black Death" - the Pestilence Mask.

Pestilence, black death - these are the names by which this plague has been described for hundreds of years. Doctors wore black leather coats and characteristic bird beak shaped masks as part of their protection - it was not very effective. This mask has become a symbol of the plague and today the doctor that fought against this disease is called Plague Doctor.  This disease took a huge toll, in the 14th century it reduced Europe's population by up to 80%.
