An excellent bronze sculpture of an Etruscan oil lamp, that serves as an inkwell. Probably a typical Grand Tour object, from the custom for sons of wealthy Northern Europeans from the 17th to 19th centuries to be sent on a long journey al over Europe to learn about classical antiquity and culture. An industry of fine, pocket-sized statues and other mementos was created to serve the habits of the Grand Tourists, picking up souvenirs wherever they travelled to take home.

Condition: Very good, no damages or repairs. Glass liner not present. 

This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
