Illustrated edition of Les Misérables, published in 233 issues, and illustrated with 500 full-page or in text engravings after compositions by Lix, Emile Bayard, Brion, H. Scott, Edmond Morin, Daniel Vierge, Valnay, Alphonse de Neuville, des Brosses, J.-P. Laurens, Adrien Marie, Edouard Zier, Eugène Delacroix, Vogel, Hersent, Haenens and Benett.

The text is framed by a black fillet. The engravings, except for those by Brion, are in first print. The bookbinder did not keep the illustrated covers, but the collation is in accordance with the description given by Vicaire. 

Copies with half shagreen bindings, adorned ribbed spines, marbled endpapers, complete of its 5 volumes, 396 p., 348 p., 308 p.,  431 p. & 360 p.

In good overall condition, the spines and corners are a bit rubbed, consistent foxing however and other minor imperfections.
