Very nice piece in oil paint on canvas board (marouflè) depicting a portrait of a child.

This beautiful work was made by the artist Armand Jamar (1870-1946).

Jamar was an impressionist and later an expressionist painter of interiors, seascapes, landscapes and city views.

He was educated at the Liège Academy in Belgium (1894) and travelled through Europe, North Africa and the United States. He also worked in France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and on the Belgian coast and in the Ardennes.

As an impressionist, he belonged to the absolute top master of Belgium. He evolved into a personal expressionism with a very free brush technique.
In 1904, he settled in Schaarbeek and regularly participated in the Salons of Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent.

In the 1970s, he was honoured with a series of retrospectives in various Belgian cities. His work is in several museums.

This beautiful portrait is in excellent condition and is in a nice frame. It is signed on the bottom right and also dated with: 1940. The dimensions are 52 x 44 cm.
