Very old panel in excellent condition with traces of age.
Beautiful painting of the famous Aloïs Boudry, which is represented in several museums including Oostduinkerke (fishing museum).
Signed at the front and back.
Very old nice wide golden frame is included for free.



Aloïs Boudry was known for his portraits, still lives and interiors. 
He studied at the art academies in Ypres and Roeselare and graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp), where his teachers were Nicaise De Keyser and Jozef van Lerius.

In 1885, he joined "Als ik Kan", an association of fine artists dedicated to the preservation of traditional methods. He took part in the exhibition "Brussels International 1910", where he won a silver medal. When the seaside resort of Knokke-Heist started a promotional campaign in 1913, he designed the posters, which became famous. [1]

During the outbreak of the First World War, he fled to England and settled as a portraitist. In 1917, he moved to Italy to wait out the war and then returned to Belgium. [2]

Wherever he was, he sought out humble people as the subjects for his paintings. Especially his images of the fisherman of Nieuwpoort are popular. Many of them can be seen in the National Fishing Museum in Oostduinkerke.
