Christian Plat

Beautiful enamel advertising sign. Especially the colour combination together with the 3-D drawing. The sign has a minor convexity, as it was with all the signs from that time.

The pictures speak for themselves. Dimensions 27 x 20 cm.

In 1814 miller Jeremiah Colman (1777-1851) took over a mustard factory in Norwich. His factory was located in the Stoke Holy Cross Mill. Jeremiah Colman was married but had no children, so in February 1823 he incorporated his adopted cousin James (1801-1854) into the company, after which it was called J&J Colman. They made mustard, flour, starch and corn flour.
